Dramaturgy and working in new writing is a core pillar of Robert’s practice. Specialising in script writing and dramaturgy whilst completing his undergraduate degree at Monash University, Robert went on to enjoy a position as Associate Artist (Directing/Literary) at MKA: Theatre of New Writing - one of Australia’s leading independent companies continually focused on new writing. Robert now works regularly with award winning writers and theatre makers to help bring their work to fruition and is available for consultation. A background in scriptwriting, devising and a formidable knowledge of theatre history and craft has seen him successfully help writers and makers ensure their work is ready to meet an audience. He runs Burning House’s dramaturgy program SPARK - a six month residency offered to playwrights offering regular dramaturgical consultation. Robert regularly works with playwrights as they develop their texts for in performance and is frequently in demand as a director for new writing. Writers working with Robert have gone on to have sold out seasons of their new plays and have their scripts optioned by production companies in Los Angeles and London.

“ A playwright could not ask for more attention to a script than what Robert has provided . . .I believe Robert will continue to develop and become one of Australia’s premier and most sought after dramaturgs and directors. His work ethic and his ability to create strongly with a vast array of artists is outstanding.'“

Kieran Carroll, Playwright. Previous playwright in residence at Yaddo (Saratoga Springs, New York), La Muse (France), The Kimmel Harding Center For The Arts (Nebraska City, USA) and Crexida Teatro (Bologna, Italy).

‘‘Robert stretched me further than I would have imagined . . . His intelligence, expertise and interventions are extraordinary for a younger person. His ability to work so well with a professional forty years older is particularly noteworthy”
